Ok, for my first "real" blog entry I will dive into a pretty hot topic in America: the famous immigration debate.
It seems like 11,000,000 people are in the USA illegally as we speak and the Bush administration wants to pass a law to allow all these people to follow some steps to become american citizens!
First, it turns out that the great majority of these illegal aliens are mexicans. I don't have anything against mexicans, in fact, if I was them, I'd probably do the exact same thing, get the hell out of Mexico and move in the USA illegally to enjoy a better life. But if we're not mexicans, that's not how we should view this problem. We should view it in an american point of view! There is laws to get in here and they must be respected.
Mexicans are not the only ones trying to get here, there is tons of other people who want to get here: canadians, UK people, germans, chinese, japanese, indians, spanish, australians, russians, brazilians, you name it. And it's tough, really tough. Except for family reasons, in order to have a chance you have to be highly educated and skilled and it's a struggle even to get a temporary visa, getting a green card takes a lot of time and effort and money, now imagine citizenship!
So now we'll make this big favor to all the illegal immigrants, who committed a crime coming here, they broke the law; mostly poor people, with little education, a higher tendency to commit crimes, who won't bring much to this country. And what will we do to facilitate things for the smart engineer from England, for the gifted physicist from India, for the computer geek from japan, for the cancer researcher from Canada? NOTHING! Even though its obvious that those people will bring much more to the country than the illegal aliens. We reward the illegals, we maintain our obstacles for the promising people who try to get here legally.
It's just CRAZY! Maybe I'm stupid and there is something I don't get but you tell me because I can't figure it out.
And when I said I had nothing against mexicans, well maybe it's not totally true. When I see many of them coming here illegally then they claim rights and free stuff, I have a major problem with that. The funniest thing is that they do get it. Why are politicians so affraid of them? THEY CAN'T VOTE!
That's my comment today, hopefully it won't be that dramatic next times!
